September 8 should well go down as one of the most shocking days ever. Why? The Queen died on the afternoon of that day, and let’s just say that immediately after the announcement was made, there was a kind of shockwave that spiraled out into the world and brought sadness and tears with it.

A month and a few days later, and it still feels as though the balance of the world is gone. It’s especially sad when you consider that there’s no one that the cats would look at when they go to London these days.

But apart from her long and gracious reign, the Queen helped improve relations between countries and races. Could she really be the greatest monarch Britain has ever seen?

Writing on the Royal Family’s official website, Rick Petrachi paid a fond and beautiful tribute to the late Queen, writing about a girl who wasn’t born to be Queen, but who fate threw into the path of greatness.

He remembered her as a lover of dogs and horses, and, through and through, as someone who deeply loved and worked for her country people.

In fact her death came barely 48 hours after she welcomed in her 15th Prime Minister, Liz Truss.

“The Queen was a woman much admired across the world. She seemed to be a distant figurehead in our ordinary lives, yet she was closer to all her subjects than any other public figure. In life, she gave a sense of stability and optimism with her presence. Now that her presence has gone, that sense will remain as we reflect on her dedication to this country.”

Rick Petrachi then talked about the once-in-a-lifetime Jubilee celebrations that happened mere months before her death, saying that it gave the country a chance to say “thank you, ma’am” for her life of service.

The late Queen Elizabeth may not see the floods of people who lined up to pay respects to her before she was buried, but she did see the thousands of people who filled the mall to celebrate her long and gracious reign.

How the Nation Has Moved On A Month After the Queen’s Death

The period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth the II has been over for a few weeks now and the country, along with the Royal Family, has effectively moved on.

“A month after her passing, as the nation and the Royal Family return to normality, her absence still feels surreal,” Petrachi wrote. “I, like many across the country perhaps, had always taken the late Queen for granted, someone who will always be there as if she was immortal.

“In the House of Windsor, the show must go on, and that is perhaps the beauty of constitutional monarchy. Because of the length of her reign, the changes we have seen over the past month have been unprecedented, as if her passing could not stop the business of monarchy. We have welcomed a new King and Queen and a new Prince and Princess of Wales.”

As the country moves on, the image and life of one so extraordinary will continue to live on. She was loved by people across the world, and her influence stretched across religion, race, and ethnicity.

Affectionately, Rick Petrachi said: “And if you allow me to say one final thing, this kingdom has always been greater at queens than kings, and Elizabeth II will not be the exception.

“Indeed, she’ll be the greatest of them all.”
