Olivia Wilde Claps Back At Rumors She Ignores Her Children, Defends Parenting Choices

Olivia Wilde just made a brave choice against mom-shaming trolls. Because rather than stay silent, the actress spoke out. And though some celeb mothers try to show off their parenting  skills with Instagram pics in defense, Wilde chose a different option.

But Olivia also explained why fans don’t see her with her children. And when the Mommy Mafia came for the actress, she clapped back hard. Find out how Wilde reacted below. 

Olivia Wilde ‘Abandoned’ Her Children?!

Don’t Worry Darling director Olivia Wilde keeps getting slammed about abandoning her children. But in a new interview, Wilde sought to do a reality check. And the actress, 38, explained why she rarely gets photographed with her son Otis, 8, and daughter Daisy, 6, per Page Six.

“I share custody of my kids with my ex,” said Olivia. Because her ex Jason Sudeikis spends time with the kids, fans jump to wild conclusions about Wilde’s parenting. “People assume I have abandoned my kids,” noted the actress. And she mocked the trolls. “Like my kids are just somewhere in a hot car without me.”

However, those assumptions show that the public doesn’t understand Olivia’s parenting choices. And she sought to clarify the situation. Because Wilde wants to protect her children, she avoids photos with them.

And the actress/director slammed those claiming she “abandoned my role as a mother.” Defending her decision to shield her kids, Olivia posed a question. “Do you know the lengths that I go to to protect my kids from being seen by you?” she asked. 

Olivia Wilde Views Parenting Police As Sexist

The House TV show alum commented over the summer about getting attacked for daring to date. Olivia and Harry Styles took their relationship public in 2021. And Wilde got angry at the parenting police patrol for what she views as sexist attitudes.

“When people see me not with my kids, it’s always ‘How dare she.’ I’ve never seen anyone say that about a guy,” added the actress. “And if he is with his kid, he’s a f–king hero.” Olivia described her children as her “best friends” and her “world.”

And Wilde also shared that she when she spends time with the children, she devotes herself to them. As a result, Olivia spent a year as a “stay-at-home mom.” And the director/actress recognized that working on a film or TV show becomes “totally all-encompassing.”

Wilde and Sudeikis have gone through a rough patch in their relationship. Their 2013 engagement, followed by the births of Otis in 2014 and Daisy in 2016, ended in a public announcement of their split in November 2020. But their battle for custody turned into headline news. Served papers while speaking at CinemaCon, Olivia expressed sorrow at her ex’s choice.

But Wilde also attacked Sudeikis’ choice to serve papers so publicly as “appalling” and “vicious.” And she admitted, “Sadly, it was not something that was entirely surprising to me. I mean, there’s a reason I left that relationship.”
