Michael Consuelos To Star In New Movie Produced By His Parents: It’s A Family Thing

How many of us have had the privilege of saying that we’ve worked with our parents? Very few, I’m guessing. Yes, you’ve had one or two or a dozen boring days at the office with one or two of your parents when you were younger, but working with them? I don’t think I can do it.

The upcoming Lifetime movie “Let’s Get Physical” is going to feature a collaborative effort between father, mother, and son.

Michael Consuelos, 25, will star in the movie alongside Jenna Dewan and Jennifer Irwin.

While Michael’s the face we’ll see in the project, his superstar parents will be executive producing the project.

“I read the script and I really, really enjoyed the character. I thought he was really funny,” he told PEOPLE exclusively about agreeing to appear in the movie. “Also, you know, it was offered to me — and when you are starting out, when something is offered, you take it. It was kind of a no-brainer for me.”

Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos have always been proud advocates of their children’s passions and they do their best to be encouraging, so it’s without a doubt that Michael is “really grateful” to have his parents onboard for his first big project.

“I’m starting out, you know. I was grateful for the opportunity,” he said, noting that his parents weren’t trying to become “momagers” or anything.

“They weren’t micromanaging everything, they trusted my ability to deliver what they wanted for the character. I’m very proud of it,” he added. “I’m proud that I got to work with them. Hopefully again sometime … it was a real treat.”

All We Know About “Let’s Get Physical”

First of all, “Let’s Get Physical” is based on a real life story of a fitness instructor named Sadie, who teaches fitness and dance to soccer moms by day, but leads a prostitution ring in her small town by night.

The film will also star Jenna Dewan as Sadie and Jennifer Irwin as April.

Speaking about his memorable time with Irwin and Dewan, Michael said, “They’re both so fun. I had the majority of my scenes with both of them, and it was a lot of laughter. You’re always a little nervous going in, and that was thrown out right out the window… It was a really welcoming environment, a lot of collaboration.”

“You get the jitters on the first day when you meet your co-stars — that really sets the tone — and it was a really great tone that we set… we gel together really well,” he added.
