Chelsea’s progression into depression is well written and well acted by Melissa, bravo. This actress is brilliantly portraying the slow and insidious fall into mental illness. Her confusion, struggle to try to hold onto or regain her old once happy life/self, even her clothing and lack of makeup are all are inline with someone in a state on anxiety and depression, not that it takes away from the natural beauty of this actress. If anything everything about Melissa is shinning through in this well performed storyline. I don’t actually want to see another repetitive Billy and Adam fight in the mix. For me those two doing their same old routine will just spoil this story and Melissa’s fantastic performance should be the focus. I would just add that Adam/Mark is also doing a great job of a loved one who cares but is struggling to understand Chelsea and give her the help and support he obviously wants to provide. His struggle between trying to help Chelsea and supporting Connor is very realistic. Just a bit disappointed the Halloween costumes etc are a bit nonexistent this year because portraying depression and its struggle especially around happy festivities and holidays really highlights these struggles with mental illness, watching others enjoying holidays, wanting to enjoying the holiday too like the old you would but not knowing how to get back to that place, it highlights the struggle and how far you know you have fallen, not to be able to even enjoy a holiday.
