Jimmy Kimmel Shared That He Almost Quit His Show — Here’s Why

It’s no news that Jimmy Kimmel has always thrown jabs at the ex-President of the United States Donald Trump. Jimmy has always used every little space he has to throw jabs at Trump.

Sometime in 2017, Jimmy said this about Trump who was still the then President, “Everyone said he wouldn’t [win]. But he did. And it’s exciting because this is your guy. You picked a horse like 35-1 and somehow it paid off.”

Jimmy went on to say that Trump has always been screwing things up ever since he assumed office as the President, Jimmy added that Trump screws things up thrice daily. “He screws up royally every day. Sometimes two or three times a day. We can’t keep up with it. Things come out of nowhere. Every day, there’s something nuts.”

Whenever Jimmy throws jabs like this at Trump, he doesn’t take it easy, he always makes it sound like a joke on his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live” because obviously, he’s a comedian but, the message is always clear, Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t like Donald Trump.

In the most recent episode of Sticher’s “Naked Lunch” podcast, Jimmy revealed that his constant jabs at Trump nearly cost him his show. The thing is that, due to how often Jimmy picks on Trump, ABC executives met with Jimmy and asked him to stop making those remarks about Trump.

Jimmy revealed that at the time ABC met him, he had lost a huge chunk of his fan base due to his constant remarks about Trump. According to Jimmy, he refused vehemently to take ABC up on their offer. He was willing to quit the show rather than let Trump be.

“I said, ‘Listen … if that’s what you want to do, I understand and I don’t begrudge you for it, but I’m not going to do that. If you want someone else to host the show, that’s fine … with me.”

Since Jimmy never liked Trump’s administration, he often wonders why people don’t speak up about it like he does. One time in 2019, Jimmy commended people like David Letterman, and the former host of “Daily Show” Jon Stewart on how they handle political issues.

Jimmy said, “You watch the news all day, you see what’s going on, how do you walk on stage and ignore it? It just doesn’t work anymore, I wish I could. It’s hard for me to talk about serious subjects. It takes a lot out of me. I do want to be funny. That’s fun.”

It’s not just Jimmy that gets the luxury of making sly comments at Trump, Trump always returns the favor. Just as Jimmy isn’t a fan of Trump’s administration, Trump isn’t a fan of Jimmy’s comedy. Trump doesn’t believe that Jimmy Kimmel is funny, he doesn’t find Jimmy’s jokes funny, and if he does, he has never admitted it.
