Nicole Kidman Bids High On Hugh Jackman’s Hat During Charity Event

“Generous” Nicole Kidman really came through for the people who will benefit from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by bidding a surprising $100,000 on High Jackman’s “The Music Man” hat.

“X-Men’s” Hugh Jackman is in awe of the generosity of Nicole Kidman. In fact, he described the 55-year-old actress as “one of the most generous souls I know.” What did she do?

Oh, she just brought the guests at the Winter Garden Theater to their feet when she bid $100,000 for pal Hugh Jackman’s hat from his starring performance in Broadway’s revival of “The Music Man”. The proceeds from the auction event will go to supporting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

“The generosity emanating from #NicoleKidman leaves me speechless! You ARE amazing. Thank you for your friendship and support!” Jackman, 54, shared with fans on Twitter, alongside a clip of the special moment at the show, which took place on Saturday.

The video shows Hugh Jackman and co-star Nicholas Ward in costume asking the crowd to beat the current record of “$19,000”. A few more seconds and Nicole Kidman causes a happy uproar when she yells out “a hundred thousand.”

Perhaps one of the most affected persons in the crowd was Hugh Jackman, whose jaw was left hanging open when the actress walked down the theater aisle in a chic oversized men’s black suit to give him a hug.

“Nic! I just want to be clear, this is not Australian dollars,” Jack jokingly called out to Kidman, who he previously worked with on the set of the 2008 movie “Australia”.

Kidman then walked back to the stage to share the reason she made such a wonderful offer: “I love you, I love Broadway. I love what they do, Broadway Cares. But I also want to say the show was extraordinary.”

We also hear Jackman telling the crowd that he’s absolutely not surprised that Nicole would do something like that, as he’s known her for many years and knows she has a beautiful heart and “a generous soul”.

Broadway Cares Releases Statement Confirming Nicole Kidman’s Donation

Broadway Cares confirmed the donation in a statement to PEOPLE: “Broadway Cares is blessed with friends across Broadway. But we have no greater champion than Hugh Jackman. This extraordinary gift from his pal Nicole Kidman is by far the largest donation for any one auction item ever. There is much for which to be grateful this Thanksgiving weekend!”

The reason for the charity auction was to raise money to “provide meals and medication, health care and hope for those living with HIV/AIDS, struggling with COVID-19 or facing other life-threatening challenges this holiday season.”
