British royal family news reveals that the royal family is in part funded by the taxpayers, and like any responsible employer, the citizens want to know they are getting value for their money. Each year a tally of how many official visits each senior royal makes is compiled, and the winner recognized.
Who do you think it is this year? If you guessed King Charles, you’d be wrong—keep reading to discover who earned the title of this year’s hardest working royal!
Royal Family News – Princess Anne Works Hard Each Year
Reboot SEO Company once again named Princess Anne as the hardest working royal in 2022. This means she attended more official royal events than any other member of the royal family. The determination is made by counting up the visits listed in the Court Circular. Just how many events did Princess Anne attend over the course of the year? A whopping 214 engagements in 365 days!
But right behind her was her eldest brother, King Charles who claimed the number two spot with 181 royal engagements. His mother Queen Elizabeth died on September 8, at which time he became regent.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex came in third and fourth place respectively. Edward notched 143 of work and Sophie attended 138 royal engagements in 2022.

Prince William came in fifth place with 126 visits. This includes his overseas trip to Boston this month for the Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony.
Close behind William was Queen Consort Camilla who attended 102 engagements. No doubt that number will increase in 2023 as she embraces her new role. Mother of three Kate Middleton came in just behind her, with a total of 90 royal engagements.
Royal Family News – King Charles Is Regent
Prince Charles came in first place in 2019 and 2020, but Princess Anne is often described as the hardest working royal. In 2022 Princess Anne also had other engagements including accompanying her mother’s coffin from Scotland to London.
Princess Anne said in a statement: “I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys.”
This month Charles named Princess Anne and Prince Edward as Counsellors of State. This title means they are now allowed to carry out constitutional duties for King Charles if he is abroad or unwell.
