Alexa PenaVega on being away from the family
Hallmark star Alexa PenaVega has opened up on how “strange” it was to film the movie A Paris Proposal while leaving Carlos and their children, Ocean, Kingston and Rio, at home. In fact, reportedly, this was the first time she has traveled solo to a filming location for a Hallmark movie.
In a new interview with Media Village, Alexa opened up about how strange that actually was for her to travel solo. She said:
This one was a unique experience for me. Normally, even if I’m not on a project with Carlos, everybody is around, and the kids are with me. After a long day, I come back, take care of the kids all night, then on the little sleep I have, I’m back to work the next day.
Alexa PenaVega on shooting A Paris Proposal for Hallmark
Apparently, it made sense to leave the family at home, while filming A Paris Proposal. Alexa explained that, because they filmed in Paris and Bulgaria, it made the most sense for her to take this project “completely solo,” adding:
That was very strange as we never do that. But we knew this choice would be easier on our family. So, I took off by myself. It was wild being able to just focus on this project, as I haven’t done that in years.
However, PenaVega did add that she didn’t know what to do with herself, as she could go to sleep at a “decent hour, rest, practice my lines, or meet the cast after filming to go over the next day.” She admitted that she doesn’t often have that luxury, as, after work, she is home with the family, which she deeply cares about. However, she added, “But it was a cool variance to be able to totally dive into the movie.”
On working with Nicholas Bishop
In the interview, she also spoke on working opposite Nicholas Bishop, who she said is “such a gem of a human, and so unbelievably professional,” adding:
He’s British yet had to put on a French accent throughout the film. He speaks French, which was so helpful as I had to learn a good chunk of French for some scenes. We got to play and improv and bounce back and forth. So many things in this movie weren’t scripted and they kept them in! That’s so rare and special.
About the Hallmark movie
A Paris Proposal saw advertising executives, Anna and Sebastian (PenaVega and Bishop) traveling to Paris to try to land the account of the famed Durand Diamonds. However, they end up in a tricky situation, when the client mistakes them for a happily married couple, and they then have to play that role.
The movie premiered on Hallmark Channel on Saturday, February 11, but encores on Thursday, February 16, at 8 pm, and Saturday, February 25, at 6 pm, all times ET.
