1923 spoilers, news, and updates tease that Spencer Dutton will be a changed man once he returns on the second season of the show. Brandon Sklenar, the actor behind the character, hinted at what’s next for his alter ego.
Fans may recall that Spencer failed to reunite with his family once again after what happened on the cruise. Sunday’s season 1 finale showed Spencer wanted to leave dinner early while aboard the ship bound for London. He wanted to avoid Arthur, who happens to be Alexandra’s ex-fiance.
Spencer wasn’t able to control himself and accept the duel Arthur up on deck after the latter started to impugn the honor of Alexandra, Spencer’s wife. Spencer bested Arthur easily but the latter came at him with a pistol. Unfortunately, Spencer flipped Arthur over the ship as he tried to defend himself. Arthur’s fall led to his death and Spencer was put off the boat when he was unable to give any proof that he was married to Alexandra.

Sklenar said that his character is unshakeable and decisive. Once he makes a decision, there’s no going back. He’ll do everything he can to fight for someone that matters to him.
He added that the ship was outside of Marseilles when he got thrown off. So, it’s possible that he’s going to Italy instead. When they get separated, Spencer isn’t sure if he’ll ever see Alex again. He feels like everything that has happened was his fault. For now, he can only hope that he’ll be able to get to Bozeman on her own.
“And the most tragic part about that is they don’t hear each other say it. It’s the first time the audience sees them tell each other that they love each other, and they don’t even hear it,” the actor said.
