Meghan Markle Sparks Fresh Political Ambition Speculations After Paying Michelle Obama’s Ex Press Chief A Lot Of Money

Since the Duchess stepped down as a senior working member of the Royal Family and moved stateside with her family, there’s been speculations that she could mean to have a go at a political career.

Even though she’s not displayed any solid proof to show she’s interested in politics – apart from an open letter to Joe Biden and cold-calling a few senators – the speculations have somehow persisted. But with the 41-year-old hiring Michelle Obama’s former press chief, could there be any truth in these rumors?

In 2020, it was revealed that Meghan Markle was making anonymous calls to democrats, and republicans, including having a secret meeting with Gavin Newsom – news which first sparked rumors of the Duchess harboring interest in a political career.

To further this, the recently released Archewell tax returns, though arriving ten months late, has revealed that the charitable organization paid £89,000 to Katie McCormick Lelyveld Melyveld’s company KMLSA LLC in 2021.

Lelyveld was the former press secretary to Michelle Obama from 2007 to 2011 including when she served as a First Lady. She earned high praise working for Mrs. Obama when the former First Lady testified of her “intelligence, grace, quick wit, humour and friendship.”

She has also served as a PR for Hilary Clinton and former presidential candidate John Kerry, showing she would know all the right people in the Democratic party.

According to the document released, the payment was made as a way to hire someone that can strategically plan for social impact PR.

The business boasts of its “decades of dynamic experience with influential leaders,” adding that it’s the company that “global leaders turn to to navigate challenges with reputational, political, philanthropic, legal and financial lenses.” In 2021, at the height of the political ambition rumors, Meghan was cold-calling US senators to press them to agree over a law on paid family leave.

She and Harry also made a high profile visit to New York that same year, including stops at the 9/11 memorial and museum and to the United Nations to campaign for greater vaccine equity.
