TVLine has exclusively learned that Giddish’s character is set to make appearances in both the Season 24 finale of SVU and the penultimate episode of Season 3 of Law & Order: Organized Crime. Furthermore, sources have confirmed that Rollins will be pregnant upon her return, adding an exciting twist to the storyline.
Law & Order: SVU – Giddish Explains Her Decision To Leave Law & Order: SVU
In her last episode, Giddish’s character tied the knot with Assistant District Attorney Dominic “Sonny” Carisi in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony held at the courthouse, surrounded by their fellow colleagues. Following the nuptials, Rollins made a life-changing decision to leave her role as a detective in the Special Victims Unit and transition to a teaching position at Fordham University.
“I felt like where it was heading, and where it headed last night, just seemed the right place to leave it right now,” the actress said.
“I am so excited about things going on in my personal life and kind of the mirroring of what’s going on in my personal life and in Rollins’, there’s a lot of joy to be experienced,” she added.
The actress added that the powers that be have already made a decision on the future of her character “before the season started.” Because of that, she was given a chance to collaborate with the show’s writers in coming up with the best exit storyline for her alter ego.
“We worked on this storyline together, and I think the last episode culminated the beautiful Rollins and Benson relationship, and we got to see Carisi and Rollins get married, which was such a treat,” she continued.
