As they say, anyone can be a daddy but it sure does take a lot to be a father. It seems as though Hollywood actor Ryan Philippe might be giving his love child the cold shoulder.

Even though he openly gushes about the two children that he shares with Reese Witherspoon, Ava and Deacon, his 11-year-old daughter Kai, who he shares with actress Alexis Knapp. A lot of fans want to know why. Here’s what you need to know.

According to the latest edition of The Globe, Ryan never really believed that Kai was his daughter to begin with. He and Alexis got together back in 2010. Several weeks later, Alexis informed him that she was pregnant with his child. It was news that not only came as a shock to Ryan, but also sent ripples through Hollywood, too.

One source close to the situation said that at the time, “Ryan questioned whether the child Alexis was carrying was his and wanted a paternity test. He finally gave in and acknowledged the child was his and he was even in the delivery room when Kai was born.”

However, it seems as though Ryan really isn’t in his daughter’s life that much these days. In fact, the tipster even said that the contact he has with Kai is rather sporadic. And while anyone else would be upset about this, it seems like Alexis is handling parenthood on her own without any problems.

Why Is Ryan Philippe Trying To Avoid His Daughter?

The insider said, “I just don’t think Ryan ever really felt a connection there. Alexis is happy to raise Kai as a single mom and she makes no demands on Ryan. But we tell Ryan that as he gets older, he might regret not being a major presence in his daughter’s life.”

So far Ryan himself has not made any comments about the matter. Now, whether or not he does anything to repair his relationship with his daughter Kai remains to be seen. Watch this space.
