British royal family news divulges that in the neighborhood of 2,000 guests including world dignitaries, foreign royals, and world leaders will watch King Charles and Queen Camilla make history at Westminster Abbey on May 6. On that day the couple are officially crowned after stepping into their roles after the death of Queen Elizabeth on September 8, 2022.
The last coronation occurred 70 years ago and the global VIPs in attendance will be part of history. Politicians from Australia to Pakistan and America to France have been invited, and yet the most powerful leader on earth has decided it’s not important enough for him. Royal Family News – Joe Biden A No-show
According to the Daily Mail, “President Joe Biden personally called King Charles III on April 3 to say he would not be attending the coronation, and that First Lady Jill Biden would attend on behalf of the United States. Mr Biden said he looked forward to meeting with Charles in the UK ‘at a future date.’”
Some pundits have called Biden’s rejection appalling, but other world powerhouses will step into the breach dug by Biden, including King Felipe of Spain, and Japan’s Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko. Royal Family News – Confirmed For The Coronation
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the coronation, as will Borjana Krišto, the chair of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Perhaps wishing to follow in the lead of absentee Biden, it is not yet known if Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will attend. But Canada’s Governor-General Mary Simon, who is the sovereign’s representative in Canada, will be at Charles’ coronation. She told the outlet that she is “excited to be there to represent our country.”
Royal Family News – Who Will See Charles Crowned?
Unlike Trudeau who hasn’t been able to make up his mind, his French counterpart President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that he will attend the coronation. Macron understands that appearing is important to show his “friendship, respect and esteem” for the UK.
Likewise, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed has confirmed his attendance along with the nation’s Governor-General David Hurley.
And, there will be plenty of royals from outside the UK to watch on as Charles and Camilla are crowned. In addition to the UK royals present, the royals of Denmark, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary have accepted invites although Queen Margrethe II recently had back surgery and is unable to attend.
