Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) spoilers reveal that the reality competition series will return to ABC for its 32nd season. And the move comes after DWTS aired only on Disney+ for a full season. By airing both on ABC and Disney+, Dancing With The Stars hopes to boost its audience.
But the change comes at the same time as a hosting switch. Because Tyra Banks exited, Julianne Hough will replace her. Get all the details below.
Dancing With The Stars – Returns To ABC
Although viewers might feel shocked to learn that DWTS will return to ABC, experts think they know the reason. And they link it to the Writers Guild Of America (WGA) calling for a strike against Hollywood studios. A writers’ strike makes unscripted shows such as Dancing With The Stars much more important, pointed out Variety.
Season 32 of DWTS will air on ABC and Disney+ at the same time. And the expanded audience can compare the recently departed co-host Tyra Banks with her replacement, Julianne Hough. Hough will work with returning co-host Alfonso Ribeiro. And Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will serve as judges.
Dancing With The Stars hosts have a history of controversy. For instance, DWTS fans adored hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. But just before season 29, DWTS stunned by letting them go. And Tyra Banks couldn’t seem to find a way to appeal to fans, resulting in a flood of criticism.

Dancing With The Stars – Season 32 Makes History
However, season 32 will also give Dancing With The Stars a chance to make TV history. After lasting just one season of exclusive streaming on Disney+, DWTS will become the first show to simulcast across both ABC and Disney+. And those who subscribe to Hulu can watch the dancing competition the next day as well.
The show’s history with ABC covers 30 seasons prior to the experiment with Disney+ last year for season 31. And fans seem hopeful about the upcoming season. For instance, the replacement of Tyra with Julianne earned cheers from viewers. Hough won the Mirrorball twice and also served as a former judge. Her co-host, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum Alfonso Ribeiro, also took home a Mirrorball.
But it remains unknown as to whether DWTS will appoint someone to replace Len Goodman. He retired last season after starting with the show in 2005. But Goodman died last month after battling bone cancer at the age of 78.
