Coronation Street Star Maureen Lipman Returns To The Series After Revealing She Was Done with It

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Maureen Lipman has returned to the series after saying she feels worn out.

Maureen Lipman, who plays the role of Evelyn Plummer, revealed earlier this year that the soap has worn her out, particularly her character’s exit storyline.

But recently, the 77-year-old actress was seen with some co-actors of Corrie, which could mean she’s probably returning. A fan photo of her with Claire Sweeney also surfaced.

In the recent episodes, her character was shaken up by the return of her estranged daughter Cassie, who is played by the co-star she was spotted with – Claire Sweeney.

She was disturbed by this because her grandson, Tyrone (played by Alan Halsall), does not know that his mother is alive. He believed that his mother had died when he was young.

Evelyn also has a potential romantic storyline with Roy (played by David Neilson) after it was revealed that he has feelings for her.

But what made Maureen feel worn out in the series? Evelyn is in her late 70s and it’s probably one of the reasons why she feels burned out. It is a retiring age for some actors. Apart from that, she has been with the show since 2018, appearing in over 320 episodes. But before that, she had already appeared in Corrie in 2002 for six episodes.

Maureen has been active in the business since 1968. The first project credited to her is Up the Junction where she played Sylvie. After that, it is a long list of more acting gigs.

When Maureen was on hiatus from the soap, she held a one-woman show titled Rose. It was shown in the West End.

Its story revolves around a woman who was traveling to the United States after leaving Europe, which was at the time setting, when it was occupied by the Nazis.

Since Maureen was spotted with Claire, they are probably shooting together and we may probably see more of Maureen. Her character Evelyn really has a lot of potential storyline from the mentioned Roy love affair to her reunion with Cassie.

But if she feels burned out, we can’t really blame her. It is a personal choice and it’s probably for her own benefit. Coronation Street is known to recast some characters but Evelyn wouldn’t be the same if she isn’t played by Maureen. Hopefully, this news of her sighting with co-stars means that she is in it for longer.
