We’ve just been given a rare glimpse into how Tom Cruise behaves on the set of one of his most iconic movies. Since Tom Cruise first starred in the action spy thriller, he’s only been getting better at the role of Ethan Hunt, and don’t get me started on the stunts.
Now, his costars have decided to reveal how seriously he takes his job and what goes on behind-the-scenes ahead of the movie’s next installment. You know, the side of Cruise we least know about.
Simon Pegg Describes Tom Cruise As A “Movie Star Of An Old Kind”
According to one of his costars, not only is Cruise, 60, a one-of-a-kind actor in that he can do his own stunts no matter how high the stakes are, he’s also a one-of-a-kind actor because of his inspiring leadership skills.
“Of all the mist of stuff that’s around him, in the center of that mist is a generous, sweet guy who looks after everybody,” Pegg exclusive told E! News’ Chief Correspondent Keltie Knight on the June 21 episode. “He leads from the top down. And he’s kind of inspiring to be around. There’s no one else like him, he’s the last movie star of the old kind.”
Pegg has known and worked with Cruise for a long time – nearly 20 decades and counting – so if anyone can attest to the star’s personality with his co-workers, it’s him.
“When I first met him, it was my first time to Hollywood,” he noted. “He came to set the first day we met, he immediately made me feel very welcome, very at home, was incredibly generous.”
Despite Being One Of The World’s Biggest And Most Recognizable Actors, Cruise Continues To Be Down To Earth.
“Over the 17 years that we’ve been friends, I feel lucky to get to see a part of him that everyone else wants to see, which is just the guy,” Pegg continued. “And he is just a guy. He’s an extraordinary guy. He’s a guy who feels the obligation to the audience to risk his life for them to kind of entertain them.”
But Pegg was not the only one to attest to Cruise’s goodness, as costar Hayley Atwell, although being new to the “Mission: Impossible” family, has worked with the star previously to have first-hand knowledge of his treatment of people.
“I had read with Tom before, I knew that he was very present,” Atwell told E!, “he was very professional and he goes out of the way to make sure anyone around him in working capacity makes them feel very safe.”
