Hallmark’s Take Me Back For Christmas Stars Vanessa Lengies & Corey Sevier Were Childhood Friends

This coming weekend, Hallmark Channel premieres the new, original movie, Take Me Back For Christmas. Viewers are likely to notice the great chemistry between its stars, Vanessa Lengies and Corey Sevier. It turns out this is for a good reason, as Lengies and Sevier have known each other since they were children. Meanwhile, this also isn’t their first Hallmark movie together.

Hallmark fans looking forward to the new, original holiday movie, Take Me Back For Christmas, which premieres this coming weekend. Part of the network’s Christmas in July, the movie stars Vanessa Lengies and Corey Sevier.

Anyone who has watched the trailer can see the excellent chemistry between the two stars. It turns out this is for an excellent reason, as Vanessa and Corey have known each other since they were children.

How did Lengies and Sevier meet?

The two Hallmark actors first met on the set of the 1990s series, Lassie and the fact that they have known each other since then reportedly helps them on screen.

Speaking to Just Jared, Lengies said that she loves Corey, adding:

I think Corey is one of the most wonderful men I have met in my lifetime. I think he’s a wonderful friend and actor, and now I know him as a director twice. I know him as a father to his children and a husband to his wife…he’s just an all round good person.

The Hallmark star says that since she has known Sevier for more than two decades, that history really helps. Meanwhile, Vanessa said that this is especially so as they get to play husband and wife for the first time. “I think that really helps to have the audience feel the soul, the soulful love there and our mutual respect,” she added.

It turns out that Corey agrees with Vanessa, and that he feels the same way. He explained that they have known each other since he was 12 and Vanessa was 10 when they first worked together.

Sevier said that in both movies they have done together, the characters that they played had history and this was important, adding:

In Heart of the Holidays, it had been a long time [for us], which actually sort of ironically mirrored us in real life because for many years… life gets busy and I’m having kids and Vanessa’s off doing all this incredible stuff, but then we reconnected and that was very much a good way to reconnect on Heart of the Holidays.

Meanwhile, Corey said that in the movie, Take Me Back For Christmas, he and Vanessa play husband and wife. He said they have both grown as people in their own relationships and lives and bring that experience to the movies. In fact, playing “these characters was really fun.”

Saying that Vanessa is an “incredible person” and an “incredible actress,” Sevier said they were excited that a “slightly more mature love story” put them on screen together again.

Meanwhile, Lengies said they were both child actors in Canada at around the same time. This meant that when they got together creatively as adults, this added a lot to it, as they have a similar way of working, adding:

And when these movies, you have to, you know, film it a lot in such a short period of time, our creative styles really blended well together.

Sevier fully agreed with the Hallmark actress, saying they have a lot of history, and they love working together, so he hopes this has been translated on screen.
