Thomas Markle Admits To Lying To Help Prince Harry and Meghan’s Image

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle has admitted to lying to the press to help his daughter’s image. Here’s what he has to say.

In a new interview for a Channel 5 documentary, Thomas, who lives full-time in Mexico, admits that he might have twisted the truth a little bit to help his daughter’s image. Just days before he was scheduled to fly out to London for the couple’s royal wedding back in 2018, Thomas made it appear as though he wanted to have the show go on without him. Instead, he was having a serious health crisis at home and had to have emergency heart surgery after suffering a heart attack.

According to Thomas, Harry and Meghan never called him to see how he was doing, but he told Piers Morgan at the time that he did receive a phone call from them. “I said [that] they called me back and they were really concerned about me and I said, ‘Go on your honeymoon, don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. And that was all a lie. So I made their image appear a little bit better.”

If that weren’t enough, Thomas also said that he lied to Prince Harry about his staged photo shoot with a paparazzo that Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle had actually orchestrated.

“I denied it,” he revealed. “All Harry asked me was did I pose for measurements for a suit, and I said, ‘No, I wasn’t posing for a measurement for a suit, I was being measured for a new hoodie.’ That’s what I told them. Of course that was a lie. I lied to him. I’m not proud of that, but I did.”

British Royal News: A New Life For Harry and Meghan

The documentary comes only a few weeks after both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would be stepping down from their roles as senior members of the royal family. While the Sussexes were hoping to have one foot in the door at Buckingham Palace and one foot out, Queen Elizabeth later announced that they would no longer be representing her at their royal engagements and public appearances. So far neither Harry nor Meghan have made any comments about Thomas Markle’s interview.
