Sinéad O’Connor has died at age 56. And her final post on Twitter showed how the musician/songwriter struggled after her son Shane died via suicide at 17 in 2022. But O’Connor had previously shared her own emotional battle.

Sinéad O’Connor Dead At 56
The family of Irish musician Sinéad O’Connor shared her death at 56 with “great sadness.” And they added, “We announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad.
Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,” O’Connor’s relatives shared via People.
But just before her passing this month, O’Connor had shared on social media about her heartbreak over her son Shane’s death by suicide at 17 last year. And Sinéad posted in a since-deleted Twitter account, “Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”
And when Shane died, O’Connor also wrote about her loss in sequential Twitter posts. “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace,” shared the musician.

Sinéad O’Connor Shares Mental Health Struggles
And prior to her recent social media post, O’Connor posted a clip of her apartment. And she sought to explain how her son’s suicide had impacted her. “I look like s— either way, which is why I didn’t want to make a video,” admitted Sinéad. “But you know, the way your kid unfortunately passing away, it isn’t good for one’s body, or soul to be fair.”
However, the musician then turned to Facebook to offer more hope. And O’Connor shared that she had headed to London to begin work on an album. The singer even shared that she planned to start “hopefully touring” in 2024 and 2025.
“Hi All, recently moved back to London after 23 years absence. Very happy to be home : ) Soon finishing my album. Release early next year : ) Hopefully Touring Australia and New Zealand toward end 2024. Europe, USA and other territories beginning early 2025 : ) #TheBitchIsBack,” added O’Connor.
Sinéad first impressed the music industry in 1990, with a song that Prince composed and wrote: “Nothing Compares 2 U.” And after that breakthrough, O’Connor produced 10 albums, such as “I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss.” The musician also became known for her spirituality, activism, and honesty about her emotional health struggles.
