A special reunion is being planned for season 25 of “Law and Order: SVU.” Late last year, Kelli Giddish exited “SVU” during season 24, after appearing on “Organized Crime” and “SVU” as a recurring and main character respectively through the years. Most recently, she guest starred in the season finales of both shows due to a crossover.
Mariska Hargitay – Teases Reunion With This “Law and Order” Favorite
On Tuesday, Hargitay shared an Instagram post teasing the reunion with her fans. The clip showed her and Giddish having fun in a video with Paul Russell’s “Lil Boo Thang” playing in the background. She captioned the short video of her and Giddish dancing round each other, “Back with my lil boo thang.”
At the moment, the storyline that will bring Giddish’s Amanda Rollins back into the fold is unknown. However, the last time we saw her she and Peter Scanavino’s Carisi were expecting. This actually played to Giddish’s real life event as the star was expecting her third child with husband Beau Richards. They welcomed the baby over the summer.
It’s possible that her return may be tied to her introducing her baby to the extended SVU family. Whatever plot they choose for their reunion, it’s clear these two ladies are very excited to work together again.
Giddish entered the series during its 13th season shortly after Christopher Meloni exited the detective drama. It did take her character quite sometime to warm up to the rest of the team, and since then, she’s grown to be a fan-favorite character.
In August 2022, it was announced that her character would exit from the show, even though rumors told that it was not her decision.
While there’s speculations of some bad blood happening behind-the-scenes, it hasn’t stopped Giddish from returning from time to time.
Happily, fans can get back into the nasty world of crime fighting when the new season premieres on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9 p.m. ET, following Law & Order on NBC. For a recap, you can stream the first 24 episodes right now on Peacock.
