Olivia (Liv) Benson, (Mariska Hargitay) might find herself in grave danger. Might Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott), the gangster-style CEO be the source of a potentially lethal situation?

Spoilers emerged for the upcoming season and NBC fans heard that Mariska Hargitay returns in her famous role of Detective Olivia Benson. For a brief moment, fans feared she might take a hiatus as she broke her ankle in July. After attending the Cinema Society screening of Black Widow in the Hamptons, she slipped and that did the damage. She ended up on crutches after that and her medical needs meant she missed the afterparty.

The Law and Order SVU star told People Magazine, “I am getting better every day and very excited to go back to work and keep the streets of New York City safe.” Other spoilers emerged that some key cast members will exit the show in the premiere. Fans will see that Officer Kat Tamin (portrayed by Jamie Gray Hyder) and Deputy Chief Christian Garland (played by Demore Barnes) exit. But, that doesn’t mean the storyline’s any less tense and exciting.

Olivia Benson might spend a bit more time behind a desk, but potentially, it sounds like danger might still threaten her. Speaking with TV Insider, she revealed that she didn’t miss filming. That’s despite, her injuries from the fall. They included “a recent broken knee, a fractured ankle, and a torn ligament.” Actually, the unfortunate fall rather added to the storyline for Season 23. She said, “My injury is written into Olivia’s story, but true to her character, it doesn’t slow her down in the least.”

It looks like danger comes to Olivia as Law And Order SVU reveals her being attacked. However, at this time, there are no spoilers on whether the attacker is Richard Wheatley. He played a big bad role back in Season 1 of the show. Mind you, his dark and dangerous world extends all over the place, so he may or may not actually be involved in it.

Crossover with Organized Crime

NBC fans will see that some events bring a crossover with Organized Crime. All in all, it sounds like a drama-filled season ahead. Mariska Hargitay told TV Insider, “The case continues with Benson and her squad going after bigger fish, who are decidedly more dangerous and difficult to apprehend.” Also, she confirmed that fans should expect a ”big twist at the end.”
