Dolly Parton – Calls Producing Broadway Show A Lifelong Dream
At 78, Parton is still taking the entertainment world by storm.
From delectable ice cream releases to pet runways, a rock record, to books accompanied with their own special music to many more, this country music icon is proving that she’s as legendary as the word gets. Her latest venture, however, is not a spur of the moment undertaking.
“Right now, I’m working on my life story as a musical, and so going on Broadway and opening my show on Broadway, that’s been a biggie [goal] in my mind for many, many years,” the Grammy winner told PEOPLE during their latest chat. “That’d be the one that I want to make certain I get done while I’m still kicking, while I’m around to stay involved in it.”
Not only is she living a dream working on a musical production for Broadway, but she wants it to be made in such a way that aspiring actors can have their shot to star in the show. Yup, she wants to do a talent search.
“Right now, I’m working on my life story as a musical, and so going on Broadway and opening my show on Broadway, that’s been a biggie [goal] in my mind for many, many years,” the “9 to 5” hitmaker revealed. “That’d be the one that I want to make certain I get done while I’m still kicking, while I’m around to stay involved in it.”
While we know that Broadway shows can take years in the making, Parton is hopeful her show will be ready by late 2025.
Dolly Parton – Wants Three Different Actors To Play Her In A Musical
According to Parton, the musical needs three Dollys: a “little Dolly,” an “earlier years Dolly” and “an older Dolly.”
“We’re going to be auditioning and trying to find them through different means,” Parton said. “I think that’ll be fun for people, too. You never know where you’re going to find them. They may never have been on stage before, or maybe in some local theater somewhere, but we’re going to look for them and that’s going to be part of the fun, I think.”
