Riley Keough On How Mother Lisa Marie Presley Grieved Elvis Presley’s Death For Years

Riley Keough On How Mother Lisa Marie Presley Grieved Elvis Presley's Death For YearsLisa Marie Presley was just 9 years old when she lost her world-famous dad Elvis Presley in August 1977. According to her daughter Riley, the loss was one she continued to feel many years down the line.

Riley Keough – Says Grieving Elvis Presley Was “A Very Private Thing” For Her Mother

Riley Keough is opening up about her mother’s biggest trials and temptations in new interviews as she promotes her memoir ‘From Here to the Great Unknown.’

Lisa Marie had written parts and even recorded several stories from her life for the memoir before her tragic death in January 2023.

Riley then chose to continue the work her mother has begun by completing the memoir.

In a new Oprah documentary about the Presleys, Keough revealed how her mother’s grief of Elvis was an almost constant thing.

“Her grief was very — I don’t think she knew how to process it,” Keough, 35, said in the clip released to tease the special, titled ‘An Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Marie and Riley.’
“It was a very private thing for her,” Riley added. “She would listen to his music alone, if she was drunk, and cry.”

When Oprah asked her whether this grief was something that reoccurred, she replied, “Yes, I would walk in her room and she had speakers — because this was back in the day — and she would be sitting on the floor crying and she’d listen to her dad’s music.”

Oprah traveled to Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland home for the special. There, she interviewed Elvis’s first-born grandchild Riley in what is her first indepth interview since the death of her mother last year at age 54.

The documentary will further feature never-before-seen family photos and home videos, alongside select Lisa Marie’s personal audio recordings.

Riley Keough – Wants Fans To Know Her Mother As More Than “Elvis’s Daughter”

On Oct. 8, Lisa Marie’s memoir will hit the shelves. Speaking on this, Riley said: “Few people had the opportunity to know who my mom really was, other than being Elvis’s daughter. I was lucky to have had that opportunity and working on preparing her autobiography for publication has been a privilege, albeit a bittersweet one.”

She added, “I’m so excited to share my mom now, at her most vulnerable and most honest, and in doing so, I do hope that readers come to love my mom as much as I did.”
