“S.W.A.T.’s” Shemar Moore Talks Feelings About The Drama’s Two-Time Comeback

As the premiere of S.W.A.T.’s Season 8 quickly approaches, the show’s lead and executive producer, Shemar Moore, feels quite reflective. After all, it’s not every day that networks decide to cancel shows, and then change their minds … two years in a row!

Now that the drama’s final season is about to roll out, Moore has a message for fans.

“S.W.A.T.’s” Shemar Moore’s Mindset Entering Final Season

Back in 2023 when CBS canceled S.W.A.T. (or so everyone thought) at the end of Season 6, Shemar Moore was surprised. Not being too overly pleased about it, he made some noise, and the fans of the show provided support.

This had the network reversing their decision and pressing the button on another season. Going into S.W.A.T.’s Season 7, Moore and the cast believed this could be the show’s last season.

Interestingly enough, CBS pushed the button on the show’s cancellation in the spring of this year, and thanks to S.W.A.T. viewers, the network once again reversed its decision, thus allowing for a Season 8.

Moore was asked how he felt entering Season 8 after the show was supposed to be canceled. As per Cinema Blend, Shemar responded with, “I’m grateful”.

It’s important to note that S.W.A.T.’s Season 8 will look a bit different since Alex Russell (Jim Street) and Kenny Jonson (Dominique Luca) have left the show.

With that being said, Moore has stated some new faces will debut, and there’s always a chance Luca could return at some point in this last season.

However, he wouldn’t be on the team as his injuries were the reason for the character’s retirement and exit. Russello could also return, as a “Street” wedding could happen in this final season.

Lastly, Nichelle Carmichael-Harrelson (Rochelle Aytes) will not be a regular, and has dropped down to recurring status for this new season.

Regardless of the changes, S.W.A.T. fans are over the moon that Season 8 is happening. The show is set to premiere on Friday, October 18 at ET on CBS.
