Well, some people might think this is a flex but for other people, it’s not so much. Tim Walz said he thought it was a “flex” that he was the poorest VP candidate in history, says he thought people would respect that he has to “pay his bills.”
Tim Walz Thought He Was ‘Flexing’ By Doing This
Kamala Harris’s former running mate even put it this way, “I thought it was a real flex when the Wall Street Journal pointed out that I might have been the least wealthy person to ever run for vice president.”
“I thought that would be something people say, well, this guy knows where we’re coming from. He’s had to pay his bills.”
Walz continued, “So there were folks that weren’t voting for us, would be the very folks that I care that our policies impact. And that disconnect was obvious in the results.”
It goes without saying that the internet certainly did have a lot to say about the matter. Some even commented with, “Just to put in context how exorbitantly out of touch with economics and spending Walz is. Have a look at the costs to the mansion compared to other expensive homes in the neighborhood.”
What’s Next For Tim Walz?
Another critic wrote, “Tim’s wealth, or lack of wealth, made zero difference to voters. It was things like this, and his incessant lying, that did him in.”
“Fortune magazine was happy to report on this just before the election too. I think there’s a point where if age 60 you’re only worth $300k it might mean you’re bad with money in some form. Definite diminishing returns here.”
And then there was this comment as well: “Why would we want a poor person in one of the highest positions in the land? No, I would say I want someone who has made their fortune as this tells me about their abilities, not some poor person who wants me to be proud they are poor. It is easy as hell to be poor.”
