Billionaire Jeff Bezos is not getting married to longtime girlfriend and fiancée Lauren Sánchez, despite what a Daily Mail article may have you believe.

According to the article, the billionaire and his fiancée had bought out ritzy sushi restaurant Matsuhisa in the Colorado ski town for December 26 or 27, with their nuptials to take place on the 28th. Here’s what we know about the increasingly messy plot about the wedding that would not be.

Daily Mail has seemingly retracted their earlier piece suggesting that Bezos and Sánchez have finally booked a date to tie the knot.

In the newer update, the publication claimed that they had printed the story based on information gotten from three different sources, even though the identity of the so-called sources or their closeness to either Bezos or Sánchez remain under wraps.

Following Daily Mail’s report, the Amazon founder reacted to the story in a rare and marvelous way, slamming the wedding claims as “completely false.”

“This whole thing is completely false – none of this is happening,” he wrote on X.“’The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been.”

He added: “Now lies can get ALL the way around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible.”

You can tell from his reaction that the billionaire was not impressed by the report and the natural excitement it caused. Who knows if one or two friends or family members called to know why he was having a wedding and didn’t bother to tell anyone? So yeah, mega-frustrating situation.

Apart from that, Bezos has been incredibly private about any plans for a wedding ever since the day he proposed to the journalist aboard his $500 million superyacht in May 2023.

What The Sources Told Daily Mail Regarding the Rumored Jeff Bezos Wedding

In the original Daily Mail report, the outlet claimed that they had spoken to a source familiar with the wedding planning and that the consensus was that guests would stay at Aspen’s top hotel the five-star St Regis after arriving the day after Christmas Day.

Apart from hotels, it was claimed that the affluent businessman and philanthropist had booked up private mansions around town for his honored guests.

Another well-connected member of the Aspen community said that the Amazon founder had arrived with his entourage on a private jet into the city’s airport on Saturday. The rumor had been that Bezos plans to have his big day in ‘Yellowstone’ actor Kevin Costner’s 160-acre Dunbar Ranch.

Yet another well-placed source had revealed that the estimate for the extravaganza would likely be somewhere near $600 million.

Prior to this, Sánchez had revealed last month on the Today Show that she has bought her wedding dress – though she admitted that there wasn’t any precise plans in place yet.

By the way, the upscale sushi restaurant Bezos was rumored to have bought out, sits a maximum 180 guests.
