Meghan Markle talked about the allegations involving her dad, Thomas, and that raised some questions after the Metropolitan Police responded. Read on for more details.

Meghan Markle Reveals A 2018 Letter

The Duchess of Sussex, according to Sky News, talked about the troubling accusations against Thomas Markle. Meghan said via a statement that she was assured in 2018 that the allegations were being investigated.

The outlet reminded readers that “Thomas Markle is being investigated by police in the Philippines over claims that he kept child sexual abuse images at his home.”

They also cited her as saying, “I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”

Keeping The Kids Away

Speaking with People Magazine, royal family watchers heard that the alleged letter from 2018 could be why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry kept their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, away from their grandfather.

She said, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”

The outlet said that her statement to them included the fact that “In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection.”

Meghan Markle also said that the letter was shared with her. But she was assured that the allegations in the letter “were being investigated.”

Metropolitan Police Responds

However, Scotland Yard says it did not investigate him. Per The Independent UK:

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of media reports that officers from the Met’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Command were involved in the passing on of a letter in 2018. We are undertaking inquiries internally in an effort to confirm this.’

Who Was Investigating The Allegations?

Meghan Markle didn’t say that anyone in particular was investigating the letter. She was only given assurances that the allegations were being investigated.

But at the same time, it’s not even clear what the allegations were, or if they were related to the allegations against Thomas Markle this year.

Meghan didn’t actually say the Metropolitan Police investigated Thomas. She said she was given assurances “these were being investigated.”

There are other possibilities. Sky suggested that the reason Meghan saw the letter could have been because of security concerns for her and Prince Harry. Of course, it’s possible that some other authority was involved in checking out the allegations.
