Todd and Julie Chrisley are opening up about life in prison on their Chrisley Confessions podcast. It comes after they were pardoned by Donald Trump. This week, they talked about Julie, who will be seeing a specialist because they have concerns about her health. Read on for more details.

Ill Health After Prison

As usual, the former Chrisley Knows Best patriarch dominated the conversation. Julie’s health concern came mostly from him, while she added little bits and pieces. However, it was clear that Todd blames the conditions inside the prison for affecting his wife’s health.

During the podcast, Julie Chrisley said, “I have a lung condition from being in prison.” She added, “Not from [going through what Todd had related,] but because I was around asbestos…You will probably notice me at certain times trying to catch my breath.”

Todd Talked About Pollutants In His Prison

Todd Chrisley is convinced that Julie’s respiratory problems stem from what he allegedly witnessed at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola. He recounted stories about other inmates falling ill because, he claims, the warden forced them to do things that were dangerous to their health.

He said:

She literally forced inmates to clean asbestos and black mold. This guy that I worked with in the chapel, Navaro, he got a lung condition. And this is documented within the Bureau of Prison’s medical files because of her making him clean this stuff with chemicals without giving him a respirator. Yeah. And made him do it.

Todd also told Julie, “And that’s something that we’re having to address right now because now this week you actually are going to have a doctor’s appointment with a pulmonary specialist that’s going to do some tests on you.”

Other Discussions

The conversation also touched on other alleged actions. The duo claimed that the person in charge of Julie’s prison in Kentucky, the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Lexington, had no issues with Todd and Julie calling each other on the phone. However, Todd claimed that the warden at Pensacola wouldn’t allow that.

As far as Todd was concerned, the refusal, despite them sharing minor kids, came as direct retaliation against his daughter Savannah, who fought tirelessly for better conditions. Pensacola is closing down, so hopefully, the new facility will be better for those inmates still there.

Fans React In The Comments

Many fans seem happy that Todd and Julie Chrisley are out of prison, and they understand that navigating life outside can be hard. Obviously, they hope that Julie’s health improves and that medical professionals can help her with her breathing issues.

One fan wrote in the comments, “This is just one prison. Can you imagine all the others and what’s truly going on in there? it’s absolutely heartbreaking.”

Another one said, “The whole time they were gone, Savannah was advocating for better prison conditions. People would criticize her by saying she didn’t care about prisoners before, why now? But she and her family have brought the deplorable prison conditions to the forefront…”
