People reported on the death of Jeannie who lived a long life and fulfilling life. The outlet noted that she passed way at the age of 85 after a series of surgeries and “an intestinal infection.” Her death came just seven months after her husband Eugene Ward passed away from cancer.

The outlet noted the country singer, known for songs like Somebody Else’s Fire, departed the world on August 1. At the time, she was in the “Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.” Really, she was a legend and now County Music is the poorer for her passing.

I have known Jeannie Seely since we were early on in Nashville. She was one of my dearest friends. I think she was one of the greater singers in Nashville and she had a wonderful sense of humor. We had many wonderful laughs together, cried over certain things together and she will be missed.
