CBS’s The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, NBC’s Days of our Lives, and ABC’s General Hospital have all been nominated for the 47th Daytime Emmy Award for Best Drama Series.
Each year each soap turns in an Emmy submission reel to the judges which contain the very finest scenes from that year and after great deliberation a winner is chosen.
Do you have a favorite soap that you want to win? Not sure which episodes were large and in charge a whole year back? We’ve got all the deets that will help you to decide which show should get your vote to take home the big award.
Let’s refresh your memory by revisiting the scenes submitted by each sudser.
Best Drama Series – General Hospital
General Hospital took a novel route this year when it selected its December episode that featured Michael Easton’s character Hamilton Finn as Ebenezer Scrooge in a creative, A Christmas Carol twist. Do you think the voters will be wowed by the inventive storytelling twist and give the award to GH?
Best Drama Series – The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful chose to submit scenes in which Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) hired a helicopter pilot so he could join Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) on Catalina Island. Hope went into labor, Dr. Buckingham (Wayne Brady) delivered her baby, and he then lied that the child died. This story dragged on far too long in many fans’ minds, will the judges feel the same way?
Best Drama Series – Days of our Lives
Days of our Lives went the classic route when it submitted the episode in which Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) woke up from a coma one year after she fell into the coma. This was the sudser’s 54th-anniversary episode in which all plots were aged by a full year. The academy may decide to reward the novel, forward-thinking displayed by the show with the award!
Best Drama Series – The Young and the Restless
The Young and the Restless hand-selected a poignant episode, one in which Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) found out about Neil Winters’ (Kristoff St. John) death. The siblings reflected on memories of their beloved friend and reel life reflected in real life. Will the Academy choose to honor the show and St. John’s contributions with an award?
