Kai Taylor Worried About His Internship

With news of Drew’s replacement coming soon, Kai told Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) that his internship and political career might end.

Trina suggested the new rep could keep him and be better than Drew. Then, she noticed she had accidentally called her mom instead of texting her.

She admitted to Kai that she hesitated to contact Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) because she wasn’t ready to accept that her mom was living with Isaiah. In the meantime, at the hospital, Portia appreciated Isaiah stopping by with a snack.

Isaiah Gannon & Portia Robinson Talk

General Hospital recaps for Thursday reveal that Isaiah told her not to worry when she saw a missed call from Trina; Portia felt bad for not talking to her daughter since they learned Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) was the baby’s father.

Isaiah wondered if Trina was upset about them living together; Portia mentioned moving in without discussing it and wanted to ensure Isaiah was okay with their relationship’s pace.

He reassured her he was happy with their future, regardless of how things were supposed to be. Portia was still worried about Trina’s feelings but hoped it would improve after the baby arrived.

Isaiah Paid A Visit

Isaiah wanted to talk to Trina, so he visited her; she let him in reluctantly, and Kai left for privacy. Trina was defensive, saying she didn’t understand why he was there since her mom didn’t care about her opinion on his relationship with Portia.

Isaiah argued that Trina was being unfair by ignoring the complexities of the situation, and he didn’t get why she cut Portia off when her mom wanted to fix things.

When Trina said her mom wouldn’t leave Isaiah, he replied that it seemed like she wanted Portia to be alone, which he doubted Trina truly wanted. After Isaiah left, Trina thought about his words and went to the hospital to see her mom.

Laura Collins’ Press Conference

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) was getting ready for a press conference when Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) came by on Sidwell’s orders.

Laura teased him about being Sidwell’s messenger, and Ezra said they were both being extorted by him; he told the mayor that Sidwell wanted Willow to replace Drew in Congress.

Laura scoffed and refused, saying she had already offered the seat to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and the press conference was just hours away.

In a vulnerable moment, Ezra mentioned he didn’t realize how dangerous Jenz was until it was too late. He warned Laura that to protect her family, she had to accept that she couldn’t refuse Sidwell’s demands.

Laura’s Willow Confusion

General Hospital recaps for the February 26 episode note Laura asked why Sidwell picked Willow, a nurse with no political experience; Ezra, frustrated, said he didn’t know … it was just Sidwell’s choice.

Laura realized Willow’s lack of experience would make her a puppet for Sidwell, so she pushed to recommend Alexis. Ezra disagreed, thinking it was a mistake since Alexis wouldn’t be easily swayed, and wondered if Sidwell even knew Laura wanted her.

When Laura, offended, said she didn’t talk to Sidwell about her choices, Ezra suggested she’d save time if she did and reminded her she was in the same boat as everyone else.

Then, Ezra got a notice that the press conference would start in 15 minutes, shocking Laura that Sidwell had moved it up; defying Sidwell,  Laura told Ezra she’d appoint Alexis.

Jenz Sidwell Threatens Willow Cain

Excited for the press conference, Jenz visited the Cain house to see Willow. She told him she was turning down his offer to replace Drew because her focus was on helping her kids adjust to her.

Jenz insisted that she couldn’t refuse the position, given all he had done for her. Willow argued she wasn’t qualified and doubted Mayor Collins would appoint her, but Jenz said she only needed to consider him and that he had secured Laura’s approval.

Still unsure, Willow questioned why he wanted her in Congress, and Jenz yelled that she needed to understand what he could do to her life if she said no.

Willow Agreed After Jenz Threatened Her

Feeling trapped, Willow agreed, knowing Jenz could take her children away. Later, Nina Reeves arrived and was excited to hear her daughter accepted the political role, but noticed Willow seemed off.

As Willow changed into a power suit for the press conference, Sidwell told Nina that Port Charles would be in good hands with Willow in Congress.

After changing and arranging care for Drew, Willow returned to the living room, ready to leave. But Sidwell wanted to stay and visit Drew, and Willow okayed it.

Sidwell Taunted Drew Cain

After Nina and Willow left, Sidwell entered the bedroom and saw Drew signaling S.O.S. He leaned over the bed and told Drew that he had figured out Willow shot him and offered her a drug that mimicked stroke symptoms.

Sidwell mentioned that Drew’s erratic behavior on the witness stand made him and Willow see Drew as a liability, so they teamed up: Willow got partial custody of her kids.

He gained a more compliant Congress representative with Willow taking her husband’s seat. He then warned Drew to stop signaling for help, as his caregivers were being bribed to ignore him.

Plus, with how most of Port Charles viewed him, Drew wouldn’t have any visitors willing to help.

Meetings Of The Minds

With her leg healed, Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) went back to the office just as Alexis informed her that she was accepting Laura’s offer to replace Drew in Congress and might be less available.

Excited for her friend, Diane acted as a journalist and prepared Alexis by listing tough questions about her criminal past and alcoholism that reporters would likely ask at the press conference.

She also suggested that Alexis warn Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) before the press conference.

In the meantime, at Sonny’s house, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) shared with his friend about his meeting with WSB Director Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

General Hospital recaps reveal that Jason also mentioned that Jack Brennan (Chris L. McKenna) didn’t trust him either.

Sonny & Jason’s WSB Conversation

Given Cullum’s power (including his ability to protect Sidwell), Jason believed it was best to eliminate him soon. Since Brennan wanted to keep Cullum out of the Five Poppies investigation, they could use that to their advantage, Jason noted.

Sonny was confused about why Jason had changed his mind about killing Cullum, since they needed him alive until they could replicate Britt’s medication.   So Jason then explained that Lucas was now working on obtaining the drug from inside Wyndemere.

Sonny was concerned that Lucas was overwhelmed, but Jason believed that if they could secure just one dose of the medication, they could eliminate Cullum.

This would allow Brennan to handle Sidwell on his own. Shortly after, Sonny got a call from Alexis regarding her upcoming Congressional appointment.

Once the call ended, Sonny informed Jason that Laura was making an error. Although appointing Alexis was a smart decision for the city, Alexis would soon realize that the mayor was being controlled by Sidwell, which would put the mayor at even greater risk.

Shocking Announcement

Lastly, back at Alexis and Diane’s office, Alexis complained about Drew abusing his Congressional position to hurt people-she hoped she’d be able to fix that.

Diane then got an alert on her phone about Laura’s imminent press conference, and that didn’t make sense to Alexis. She thought there must be something else going on, so she logged into the livestream to see what was happening.

At the same time, Sonny, Jason, Sidwell, and Drew also turned on the livestream to see Laura’s speech. All except Sidwell, of course, watched with shock when Laura announced Willow was replacing her husband, and she stepped up to speak.
