Britney Spears Arrested For DUI In California

On the night of Wednesday, March 4, pop icon Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI in Ventura County, California.

The singer was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET and booked at around 3 a.m. ET by the Sheriff’s department. More on this developing story, below.

According to reports, Spears was released from custody at about 6 a.m. ET on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the DUI arrest is coming after a recent legal win for Spears.

The legendary singer was given a permanent restraining order against a Louisiana man who showed up, out of the blue, to her home in Los Angeles. This, after he shared a number of unsettling posts on social media.

As per the singer’s court filing, the man, 51 years of age, had been harassing Spears online for about 13 years. He had also been arrested for trespassing on her property last year.

Sadly, Spears has had her fair share of run-ins with police over the years, notably in 2007 when she faced misdemeanor charges and an alleged hit-and-run in L.A. with a parked car.

With that said, the hit-and-run charges were dropped as the singer paid damages to the vehicle’s owner. In addition, a mistrial was noted after the jury was in deadlock when it came to Spears driving without a California license.

Britney was in the media spotlight after all these scandals and meltdown. The singer eventually lost custody of her two sons, and the courts awarded the children to their father, Kevin Federline.

It was at this time that there was concern over Spears’ mental health and substance and alcohol abuse issues.

This current DUI arrest comes after five years of living “free”, as a California judge terminated her father, Jamie Spears’, conservatorship in 2021.

In 2008, Spears was placed under this legal arrangement at the age of 26. The singer is currently 44 years of age.
