‘Days Of Our Lives’ Star Patrick Muldoon Dead at 57

Some sad news for Days of Our Lives fans, as Patrick Muldoon, who originated the role of Austin Reed, is dead. The actor was only 57 years old. More on this story, below.
Patrick Muldoon’s Cause Of Death
According to TMZ, Muldoon suffered a heart attack and passed away. Muldoon’s sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told the online magazine that her brother took a shower on Sunday, April 19, after having coffee with his girlfriend.
He seemed to be taking too long, which is why she went to check on him and found Muldoon unconscious on the bathroom floor in their Beverly Hills home.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but they were unable to revive him.
Muldoon’s Acting Legacy
Muldoon played Austin on Days from 1992 to 1995 and reprised the role in 2011 to 2012. He also had a recurring role in the teen series, Saved by the Bell, in 1991, playing Jeffrey Hunter.
In addition, Muldoon had a major part in the primetime drama smash, MelRose Place, where he played Richard Hart, from 1995 to 1996.
In addition to his acting, Muldoon also worked as a producer, via his Storyboard Productions company, on a number of films.
Some movies he worked on included Riff Raff, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Marlowe, The Card Counter, Arkansas, and The Dreadful.
Muldoon was slated to produce Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth. In fact, the actor recently posted about it on Instagram.
Muldoon also had a number of movie roles, starring in the 1997 Starship Troopers, 2021 Deadlock, 2021 Vanquish, 2022 Dakota – just to name a few – and his final film, Dirty Hands, which will be released later in 2026.
Muldoon is survived by his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, his parents, Patrick Mulddon Sr. and Deanna Muldoon, his sister Shana, and brother-in-law Ahmet Zappa, as well as his niece and nephew, Halo and Arrow Zappa.
