Days Of Our Lives’ Peter Porte And Rachel Boyd Taken Off Contract

Days of Our Lives spoilers note that the casting news continues to roll (downward) at the Peacock soap, as two new performers have been dropped down to recurring status.

As per the closing credits this week, it seems as if Peter Porte, who plays Dimitri von Leuschner, and Rachel Boyd, who plays Sophia Choi, are no longer on contract with the show.

Revolving Days Door

This news is off the cusp of a recent similar announcement. Just a few weeks back, fans learned that veteran with the soap, Galen Gering (Rafe Hernandez), and Elia Cantu (Jada Hunter) have also been dropped to recurring status.

Gering has been with DOOL for almost two decades, while Cantu has been with the show since 2022. Meanwhile, Boyd was a recast who took over the role of Sophia from Madelyn Kientz in February 2025.

Sophia has played a pivotal role on canvas since Boyd stepped into the part and is currently involved in a terrifying storyline with Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) as they take aim at Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) to gain revenge against EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).

Meanwhile, Porte has been on and off the screen since Dimitri was first introduced to Days fans in 2021, when he participated in the “Beyond Salem” series, and then moved to the mothership show in 2023.

The Days Rollercoaster Casting Ride

Well, at least with Boyd and Porte being recurring, this means fans will get to see them now and again when they are needed.

Having said that, earlier this year, it was announced that four major characters would be leaving the canvas as of 2027.

These included Carson Boatman (Johnny DiMera), Raven Bowens (Chanel DiMera), Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis), and Leo Howard (Tate Black).

On the flip side, General Hospital alum and fan favorite, Sofia Mattsson, who played Sasha Gilmore on the ABC soap, is slated to enter the land of Salem sometime in 2027. As with everything in life, fans will have to take the good with the bad where casting is concerned at DOOL.
