The Young and the Restless Casting Shocker: Veteran Actor Jere Burns Cast As Diane’s “New Man”

Jere Burns Joining YRThe Young and the Restless spoilers hint there’s a new face that is slated to hit the land of Genoa City, as Jere Burns is joining the cast as Dr. Laurence Markham.

Diane Abbott Has A New Man

Burns is slated to debut in the doctor role starting Monday, June 15. In fact, TV Insider is reporting that he’ll be a part of a multi-episode storyline that involves Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters).

This will reunite Walters and Burns after 30 years, as the duo both worked on the NBC comedy, “Dear John”.

The series ran from 1988 to 1992, where Burns played egotistical Kirk Morris, and Walters started in the second season as Mary Beth Sutton.

Walters told TV Insider, “I loved working with Jere Burns on Dear John, so I was thrilled when I was told that we’d be working together again on Y&R.”

While the doctor role is Burns’ debut on daytime drama, he has a vast prime time resume, in addition to Dear John.

Burns has also worked on Breaking Bad, Justified, as well as Good Morning Miami, Something So Right, as well as appearances on Dead to Me, and NCIS: Los Angeles (just to name a few).

Ah, The Mystery!

So, what will bring Dr. Laurence Markham to the canvas? Diane may be estranged from Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), but weeks ago, she was looking to reunite.

While she did appear in Fairmont Crest during the week of June 8-12 in the Beyond the Gates crossover storyline, she’s MIA in Genoa City for weeks.

Has she been taken by Markham? There seems to be a ton of mystery surrounding this new character, so fans will have to tune in to see all the drama unfold for themselves!
