Days Of Our Lives Fans Mourn As Bo & Hope's Beloved Theme Song Singer Dies At 75Days Of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Bonnie Tyler, 80s ionic singer who crooned Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Brady’s (Kristian Alfonso) famous wedding escape song has died.

Long time fans will remember that Hope was ready to marry Larry Welch (Andrew Masset) when Bo arrived and kidnapped Hope on a stolen police motorcycle. “Holding Out For A Hero” quickly became a second theme song for the couple. 

Bonnie Tyler Died On Wednesday, July 8

According to a statement released by Bonnie’s family a team, the Welsh singer died on Wednesday while being treated for an illness stemming from an intestinal surgery in May.

The short statement announced the star’s passing along with the following, “We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”

Tyler was born, Gaynor Hopkins on June 8, 1951, in Wales. She landed her first big hit in 1977 with the track “It’s a Heartache,” which peaked at No. 3 in the U.S. and No. 4 in the U.K. Tyler’s distinctive voice played a huge part in her musical success. Tyler because an even bigger success in the 80s as she released other ballads.

Bonnie Tyler Becomes A Superstar

“It was the 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” that launched Tyler to superstardom. The track, written and produced by Jim Steinman, known for his hits with Meat Loaf, spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the charts in the U.K. and several other countries.”

She was nominated for three Grammy awards and three Brit Awards. In 2022 she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.

“She and Steiman worked together to produce another of her massive hits, “Holding Out for a Hero,” which was featured on the “Footloose” soundtrack.

Tyler has collaborated on duets with many iconic musicians, including Rod Stewart, Meat Loaf and Todd Rundgren. Over her impressive five-decade-long career, Tyler has released 18 studio albums, with her most recent being “The Best Is Yet to Come,” which came out in 2021.

Soap Stars React To Bonnie Tyler’s Death

The soap opera community mourned the loss of a musical legend, as Tyler’s hit song “Holding Out for a Hero” had long served as an unofficial anthem for the beloved Days of Our Lives supercouple Bo and Hope (“Bope”). This was not the only theme song associated with the couple.

Tyler and her husband had no children. Tyler is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Sullivan.
