It appears that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have proudly joined the ranks of the afflicted. That is, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are among the sick when it comes to the Spoiled Adult Child epidemic sweeping the West. Fans know that Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry’s grandmother, spent well in excess of 1,000 times the cost of an average wedding on Harry and Meghan’s. Then the queen gave Prince Harry and Meghan a real estate portfolio worth over £4.9 Million. (That’s $6.03 Millon U.S. dollars) as a wedding gift!
However, that wasn’t enough for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. When the couple decided to step back from their royal duties and make a quick break for America, what did they do? Did Prince Harry and Meghan choose to truly step away from the limelight? Did Harry and Meghan hunker down, cut expenses, and find a modest rental until the two could find gainful employment on their own?
The answer is that no, Meghan and Harry did not. Instead, fans of the British Royal family watched as Prince Harry and Meghan continued on with their lavish lifestyle despite the fact that neither of them had an income. Prince Harry and Meghan relied on the generosity of friends and of course, Harry’s daddy chipped in to cover the vast bulk of their expenses.
Now, in today’s day and age, it seems commonplace to see doting parents (like Prince Charles apparently) buying their adult children brand new cars, and then paying the insurance as well. These adult children, like Meghan and Harry, sometimes have their parents chip in to pay rent, utilities, and a heck of a lot more. However, it’s a fair bet that unlike Prince Harry and Meghan, the vast majority of these adult kids don’t have parents paying the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of dollars per month.
That’s especially true if those kids, like Harry and Meghan now, have lucrative contracts of their own wherein they’re paid $1 Million apiece for every speaking engagement they carry out. That would be like Beyoncé’s mom or Justin Bieber’s dad continuing to pay all of their bills while these mega-stars made bazillions of dollars and just partied down.
Critics are now wondering what leverage Prince Harry must have over his father. What could compel Prince Charles to dole out boatloads of cash to fund Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lifestyle even after they’ve signed with the New York-based Harry Walker agency? Does Prince Charles feel like a bad father? Is the Prince of Wales using cash as a means of showing his love?
Anyone might understand that Prince Charles has no desire to see his youngest son go without. But really, if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to live in an upscale apartment with a rental price of even $5,000 per month, could that be construed as “going without?” To some like Meghan and Prince Harry who apparently live in white towers and privilege, it could be. Regardless, to some fans of the British Royal family, it’s all a bit shameful.

One thing is certain, however, in light of the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are continuing to have everything handed to them through Prince Charles’s estate; it’s absolutely ludicrous to believe either Meghan or Harry are “self-made” in any sense of the word.
