Sharon’s Trunk Stowaway Revealed

Sharon Newman is curious about how Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) managed to bypass Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) security system, and the surprising answer lies in the trunk of her vehicle.

He claims he merely seeks assistance, then suddenly doubles over while gripping his head in agony.

Sharon takes a step back and reminds him that departing town was their agreement.

Matt maintains this is genuine suffering, and when she demands he leave, he finds himself unable to depart.

Instead, he pleads with her to relieve his pain.

He reveals that “the darkness” has returned and is consuming him from within.

Despite this, she brings him a glass of water anyway, because Sharon’s instinct as a therapist will always outweigh her practical judgment.

Matt’s troubling behavior has been building for days. Soap Opera Spy previously explored whether Matt’s return to Sharon’s home could become Nick’s worst nightmare.

Matt Tells Sharon She Is The Only Person He Can Rely On

Matt explains that she is the only person he can rely on, given her background as a therapist who has demonstrated kindness toward him.

Then, with tears streaming down his face, he confesses his identity is lost.

He believed he could convince Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) to surrender herself.

But instead, Patty forced their vehicle off the road.

When he regained consciousness, his mind was flooded with every dark impulse he’d ever suppressed.

It resembles an inferno building within him, he describes.

While he isn’t attempting to frighten her, he is terrified himself.

Sharon then notices the fire poker nearby, and Matt encourages her to seize it and strike the violent thoughts from his mind once more.

Sharon Asks If Matt Had His Head Examined, Then Tries To Encourage Him

Sharon inquires whether he consulted a doctor following Sienna Bacall’s (Tamara Braun) assault, and he confirms receiving an X-ray with normal results.

She argues that head trauma may alter personality but never conscience, which remains truthful.

Matt describes himself as a monster with redeeming qualities.

Sharon insists he requires professional intervention; he counters that he needs her understanding — his longtime draw to her.

When Sharon threatens security, Matt responds ominously, “Maybe they’ll arrive in time, maybe not.”

Sharon stands firm, asserting he controls his brain’s impulses and can change through better choices.

Matt admits self-hatred and an inability to stop his destructive behavior.

Sharon counters that the former Matt would have attacked her by now, yet he hasn’t — proof hope remains.

Nick’s Old Dealer Found Alive

Adam arrives with urgent news: the cops found the dealer alive, and he’s claiming Nick beat him.

The detective wants Nick for questioning.

Nick claims he took the dealer’s drugs and flushed them down a toilet to get them off the street — a small gesture, but something.

Nick thanks Adam for his loyalty to the family.

Adam vows unwavering belief in him; as the family’s self-appointed believer, Adam takes Nick’s story at face value.

They discuss Matt and potential consequences.

Nick asks Adam to tell the detective he’ll cooperate, but first he needs to see Sharon.

Adam heads inside while Nick makes his way to a cottage harboring an uncomfortable guest.

Nick’s troubles with the missing drug dealer have been escalating. Celebrating The Soaps previously covered Nick’s dark admission and the growing suspicions surrounding the dealer’s disappearance.

Matt Wants Help

Nick arrives, and Matt urges Sharon to let him in — a bold request from someone warned to stay out of Genoa City.

Nick spots Matt and demands an explanation.

Sharon says Matt seeks help and wants to change.

Nick insists Matt never changes and is determined to end this now.

Matt tells Nick to do what he must; it might be his only way out.

Sharon and Nick clash over what comes next.

He refuses to be swayed; Matt has exhausted his chances.

She counters that Matt needs professional help, which she can arrange at a clinic.

Matt suddenly screams that good and bad Matt are battling in his head.

He grabs his temple and sits down.

He wishes he were dead.

Sharon promises to get him help, and Nick exhales impatiently.

Phyllis Interrogates Nick And Asks About Matt

At Society, Phyllis confronts Nick about his distance, assures him of her support, and inquires about Matt.

She dismisses him as “ancient history” — a premature confidence.

Nick reveals Matt’s abandoned car was found outside town with no trace of Matt, and police suspect Patty was with him.

Nick believes this was a calculated scheme between them and questions whether Matt deserves consideration.

He’s baffled by Phyllis’s efforts to portray Matt as a victim, convinced Matt never truly changed.

They clash over Matt’s original abduction of Patty, with Nick refusing to indulge Phyllis’s fantasy — one she currently inhabits alone.

Adam And Phyllis Argue

Back at the house, Adam and Phyllis engage in a heated confrontation.

He questions where she obtained the funds to acquire all those impressive new properties.

She dodges the question.

He resolves to simply bide his time until her inevitable arrest.

Adam reassures her that his family holds no regard for her or Arabesque.

Phyllis boasts that she has Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) and Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) backing her up.

Adam glumly forecasts that her son will soon find himself unemployed once more.

Phyllis has been making some bold moves against the Newmans. Celebrating The Soaps recently detailed Victor’s concerns, Adam’s questions, and Phyllis’s growing business ambitions.

Phyllis Brags About Her Acquisitions, Then Calls And Leaves A Message For Matt

Phyllis threatens that she will be positioned right next to them and will bring them down.

He points out that she consistently falls short and only possesses Arabesque because his father gave her a handout.

She insists her company will replicate everything Newman accomplishes, except on a grander scale.

Adam dismisses this as predictably vague.

So she ups the ante: Newman will be eclipsed in every aspect within twelve months.

He suggests she is overextending herself.

She counters that only failures think that way.

They exchange several more barbs before Adam thanks her for the conversation.

After he departs, Phyllis dials Matt and leaves a voicemail requesting confirmation that he is doing well.

Adam Goes To The Ranch And Updates Victor About Nick

At the Newman Ranch, Adam stops by to update Victor about his brother’s reaction to the dealer’s discovery.

Nick insists he destroyed the dealer’s stash, and Adam feels certain Nick stayed clean.

However, Nick has shifted his focus toward Matt, prompting Victor to remind his son that sobriety should be his only priority.

Adam also shares Phyllis’s ambitious scheme to surpass Newman Enterprises within the next twelve months.

This draws a dramatic response from Victor — an unexpectedly swashbuckling exclamation from someone who constructed his fortune in the boardroom rather than on the high seas.

Victor acknowledges Phyllis’s impressive near-miss this time around.

Then he asserts she’s welcome to try her hardest, but she’ll ultimately fall short.

Annemarie’s Take

I think Sharon is making a huge mistake trusting Matt again.

He may claim he’s struggling with his darker impulses, but that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly safe to be around. Nick has every reason to be worried!

And what about Phyllis? She’s making some enormous promises about taking down Newman Enterprises, but Adam clearly isn’t buying any of it.

I have a feeling Victor isn’t nearly as worried about her threats as she’d like him to be.
