In fact, over the summer, Days of Our Lives star Lauren Koslow temporarily filled in for Walton, as her schedule couldn’t accommodate filming.

The temporary Jill Abbott recast was announced earlier this year, with Koslow stepping in while Walton was unavailable.

With Walton’s 40th anniversary on the CBS soap coming next year, many are wondering if Jill will be around to celebrate or if her character will pass away in the meantime.

When Snapper Foster (David Hasselhoff) called during Billy’s wedding, he relayed how worried he was that Jill wouldn’t pull through after surgery.

Both Billy and Cane have been thinking about heading to London so they can be near Jill if something terrible happens.

With that said, both men have been torn about going.

For Cane, he doesn’t want to leave Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) alone as she waits for her cancer results.

Is A Miracle On The Horizon?

Things look pretty bad right now for Jill, but this could all be a storyline to amp up the drama!

After all, Billy just married Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), and the couple welcomed their baby girl.

Plus, Billy’s phone call with Snapper while Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was trying to reach him could explain why Billy wasn’t by Sally’s side when she gave birth.

Snapper’s call was perhaps a means to an end, with Jill ultimately pulling through.

It certainly would provide some feel-good moments if Billy told Jill that he and Sally had a girl.

Knowing that Billy had finally forgiven her enough to honor her through his daughter could stir something up in Jill and make her want to live to see her new granddaughter.

This is a soap opera, after all!

Then again, perhaps Jill passes away after learning the good news, with Billy knowing they managed to mend fences before his mother’s demise.

As Billy struggles with the possibility of losing Jill, he may have to decide whether to leave Sally and their newborn daughter to be at his mother’s bedside.

Only time will tell!

I really hope Y&R isn’t planning to kill off Jill. Jess Walton has been such an important part of this show for so many years, and it would be a shame to lose the character.

I also think Billy deserves a chance to make peace with his mother. They’ve had their differences, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love her.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful if hearing about her new granddaughter gave Jill something to fight for?

On the other hand, soaps love to give us a happy moment right before breaking our hearts, so I’m not getting too comfortable just yet!

I wouldn’t take Jill’s medical crisis as confirmation that Jess Walton is leaving, either. Until there’s an official announcement, anything could happen.
