The Young and Restless will now have two new bosses after the exit of its former head writer and executive producer, Mal Young.
Mal Young took up the reins last year as the head writer and executive producer of the Young and The Restless after the departure of Sally Sussman and Kay Alden.
When he was in command, several actors who have been with the show for years were either written out or have left voluntarily, which did not sit well with the fans of the show. There were a lot of speculations as to why he departed.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Mal Young OUT!
To clear things up about his exit, Young released a statement. “Just arrived in London for the holidays. I felt like it was a good time to move on. Never a good idea to get too settled on a long running soap. And I achieved all that I and CBS set out to do: improved scripts and production values. I have a project on my own that I’ve been developing and want to pursue that now. Plus, running a show like this is all consuming and want to get a bit of my life back – and see my family occasionally.”
Young joined Y&R in 2016. Before coming to the number one daytime drama, he was a producer at EastEnders and Brookside. He also co-created And The Beat Goes On. He acted as the controller of continuing drama at BBC for 7 years, between 1997-2004. He oversaw different British sudsers like EastEnders and Doctors.
Who Is In Charge Of Young And Restless Now?
Now that he is gone, Anthony “Tony” Morina and Josh Girffith will take the lead at Y&R. Morina, who has been with the series as a supervising producer for more than a decade, will be the new executive producer while Griffith will be the new head writer.
Morina also worked on other projects including Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, Port Charles, General Hospital and All My Children. Meanwhile, this is not Griffith’s first stint as the head writer of the show. He was named headwriter from 2007-2008 and 2012-2013 and was also the former co-executive producer of Y&R between 2006 and 2008.

Happy does not come remotely close to how incredibly over the moon, ecstatic, tears of joy, yelling Yahoo etc I am at him leaving cuz if he was on much longer there would be no one watching. Now bring Ravi, Paul, Gloria and Kevin home and send the Rosales brothers back to Miami beach with the horrible Mia.
