Beyond The Gates Star Colby Natasha Nixon Asks Fans A Burning “Kat” Question

Beyond the Gates spoilers reveal that Katherine “Kat” Richardson has a lot on her plate right now. She’s not only reeling from the news that her grandmother, Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) has breast cancer, but there’s also a possibility she could get the condition, too.

The character’s portrayer, Colby Natasha Nixon, recently hopped on social media and asked fans a burning “Kat” question.

Kat has been adamant about not testing for genetic markers, and she reasons that she doesn’t want to go through life wondering when the next shoe will drop.

Still, getting the heads up would help doctors come up with a plan, and catch the condition early for minimal complications. The genetic markers don’t skip a generation, so Kat’s mom, Nicole Dupree (Daphnee Duplaix) and her aunt Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) are getting tested.

If either of them tests positive, their children are encouraged to draw blood; however, Kat has already stated she refuses to.

With that said, if they test negative, there’s nothing to worry about, but something tells fans that Nicole will likely test positive.

Nixon recently hopped on Instagram and uploaded a moving scene she was in with Duplaix, along with Brandon Claybon (Martin Richardson), recently.

Kat had just learned the news, and the clip is very emotional. Nixon offers an incredible performance in the scene, along with her castmates, Clabyon and Duplaix.

The caption of Nixon’s IG post reads, “Finding out a loved one has cancer can be both shocking and terrifying.”

She goes on to note, “Last week on Beyond the Gates, Kat made the decision not to get tested for the BRCA gene. What did you think about Kat’s decision?”

Many fans chimed in supporting Kat’s decision, while some respectfully disagreed. Nixon’s fellow Beyond the Gates castmate, Karla Mosley, hit the comments section by stating, “BRAVO!” while Nixon replied, “Thanks, Karlaaaaa”
