Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) made his son angry on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’. And all Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) did was ask a question that anyone with knowledge of the situation would have. The fact that Douglas is of pre-school age is all the more remarkable.

Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) was sitting with Hope Forrester (Annika Noelle) at the cliff house, when Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and her kooky brother were in Kelly Spencer (Zoe Pennington and Allison Marcia Sweeney) and Phoebe Forrester’s (Madeline Valdez and River Davidson) bedroom when it happened. Douglas said, on more than one occasion, that Beth was alive.

Thomas insisted that Douglas misheard what he was saying on his smartphone, when Atkinson’s character was speaking to Flo Fulton Logan (Katrina Bowden). Douglas heard the astonishing truth from the doorway to his dad’s bedroom in Brooke Logan Forrester’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) home.

Samiri’s pitch perfect performances have now become central to B&B’s great arc. Feelings may vary on this point, but the length of this storyline is not actually that long. And, the unexpected tell Douglas offered to Hope and Liam serves as the first crack in a scheme Thomas felt was cemented through his marriage to Hope.

Douglas’ was angered that his dad has been forcefully telling him not to say what he knows he heard. As a smart young man, Douglas also senses that the news he learned must be passed on.

Thomas returned from the girls cliff house bedroom after Douglas told Hope and Liam what he knew. Steffy had delayed her brother’s return while trying to encourage him to take it slow with Hope.

After Thomas and Hope said goodbye, Douglas received another direct warning from his father. Thomas reinforced that Douglas should not say what he thought he heard.

Douglas fronted agreement, while Liam got the gist of what was said from nearby. That was Thomas’ next mistake, in what is becoming a long line.

The week of August 5 is pegged as when the entire baby swap secret is revealed. Hope and Liam will look back on Douglas as the person who had the wisdom and guts to change their lives when so many others chose not to.

Here’s a young man who recently lost his mother, Caroline Spencer (Lindsey Godfrey), and is living with a father who’s been manipulating him for months. Thomas’ plan to use Douglas to ingratiate himself into Hope’s life has worked, to a certain degree.

But Thomas can’t make Hope love him, which is setting up the final conflict in B&B’s enduring storyline. That resolution will soon be seen as well and hopefully so will justice.
