Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Ridge Lies To Brooke – Will Shauna Keep His Secret?

Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) made two big mistakes on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’. The first is tied to the other, with resulting consequences.

Choosing to shield Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) from needed justice was wrong and the father-son connection doesn’t justify it, sorry. Viewers were reminded that Ridge’s checkered past fuels the genetics that are part of Thomas’ existence, making Atkinson’s alter ego’s actions more understandable to newer viewers, while reminding stalwarts why his behavior is erratic.

As for the second mistake, irresponsible Bikini Bar employees allowed Ridge to drink to the point of oblivion. But he was mostly responsible for that choice. What happened next with Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) caused Ridge to lie like his son, Thomas.

The question isn’t whose actions were worse? Obviously Thomas’ were. Instead, it was revealing, or affirming, depending upon viewer’s perspectives, to see Ridge veer off-track as part of his attempts to prop up Thomas and then to put ‘Bridge’ in jeopardy after his verbal fight with Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang).

Richards’ acting chops were stellar in scenes with Lang at Brooke’s estate and with Kaye at the bar and in the upstairs room that was conveniently available for ‘Shidge’ to crash. Readers are right to scrunch their noses at this non-couple’s nickname. Like the shouldn’t be pairing, it’s not palatable.

Meanwhile, the cause of much trouble, Thomas, is banned from moving back into Brooke’s house. Ridge’s inability to understand why his wife feels as she does is as exasperating at Thomas’ convoluted justifications were when he was threatening Flo Fulton (Katrina Bowden), Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes), and Xander Avant (Again Bradley) to maintain their silence.

B&B Spoilers – Arc’s Tentacles Expanding

This arc’s origins arguably began when Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) got himself in too deep with his bookie. That happened before B&B first saw the doctor, as Reese was a new character upon his introduction last year.

Flo was introduced shortly thereafter. Zoe and Xander’s links were set, along with various other character’s becoming involved, or eventually learning that Beth Spencer (Madeline Valdez and River Davidson) never died and was living in plain sight as Phoebe Forrester.

Ridge finally accepted that his son had entangled himself in this mess and also witnessed Thomas’ fall off the cliff, which Brooke described as an accident.

B&B’s write of Kaye’s character into a problematic secret involving Shauna is compelling. While the pair actually did nothing wrong, Ridge knows he can’t prove it.

Bold And The Beautiful Spoilers – Shauna Fulton And Ridge Forrester Protect Their Children

Shauna did not want her daughter to acknowledge what she’d done for Reese. As viewers can see, Shauna and Ridge were both motivated by parental instincts. Ridge has been forced to deal with Thomas’ self-created issues and Steffy Forrester’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) victim status.

Ridge didn’t realize it, but he and Shauna are actually coming from the same place in their hearts. Whether the night above Bikini Bar leads to an actual ‘Shidge’ coupling is another plot point to be considered in this evolving arc.
