Fans know that Carter suddenly blurted out that he wanted to try again with Zoe. He does still love her but feels guilty about hurting her. However, she started it and the difference is that Zoe betrayed him. Carter was a single man when he slept with Quinn, so he technically isn’t responsible for Zoe’s “broken heart.” When he told Zoe that he wanted to try again, it seemed more like a way to shut her up.

What would be more explosive than Carter and Zoe exchanging their hand-written vows and then the truth suddenly coming out? Zoe would get upset and run out of the ceremony… and out of L.A. As for Eric, we don’t expect him to stay with Quinn after that. If this happens, it would open so many doors for new and fresh stories for several different characters. However, we will have to keep watching to find out if this is what the writers have planned or not.
