According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Atkinson confirmed that Thomas has been traveling and doing some soul-searching. Now, that would be fine if he simply made a mistake. But many fans believe that Thomas has a serious mental illness. However, Atkinson suggested to the magazine that Thomas might be “cured,”

“We learn he’s been off doing some soul-searching. He’s been traveling around and trying to find himself. He has had a lot of time to think about what he did, and he’s in a different headspace now.”

The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers confirm that Thomas will return to our televisions sets during the week of August 10. That is the same time that another character is coming back, Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards).

Atkinson told the publication that what brings him back is Steffy Forrester’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) motorcycle accident. He is stricken with grief over the crash and Steffy’s condition. Thomas feels incredibly close to his sister, but it’s not just because they share the same bloodline. They have been through a lot together and Thomas feels terrible that he wasn’t there when she was struck by Bill Spencer (Don Diamont).
