Coronation Street’s episode this coming February 7 marks its 10,000th episode. The sudser wants to celebrate this amazing landmark by scheduling an hour-long special, which starts at 7:30 pm.
In a previous interview, Corrie’s boss Iain MacLeod hinted that he has something exciting things brewing for the anniversary special.
“It’s an astonishing landmark. And at the start of the year, we have our 10,000th episode that we are intending to mark with something ‘classic Corrie’ that has a comedic and character-driven vibe,” he said.
He expects the 60th anniversary to be “something more explosive.”
“The expectation from the audience now with anniversaries isn’t necessarily death and destruction, but that a spectacle is attached to it,” he explained.
The hour-long special includes scenes involving an ambulance in Blackpool? Recently, paparazzi photos showed Mary Taylor (Patti Clare), Sean Tully (Antony Cotton), Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) and Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) were seen filming scenes for the sudser.
“We have some fairly novel ideas that we are exploring at the moment, so that should be exciting,” MacLeod said.

During the show’s 40th-anniversary episode, there was a live act and a pre-recorded segment of Prince Charles visiting Manchester and meeting with Audrey Roberts.
When the show celebrated its 50th anniversary, the special episodes revolving around a tram crash was shown for one week, and it wrapped up with a 60-minute live broadcast.
