Coronation Street Spoilers: Kelly Neelan Refuses To See Dying Mother In Laura’s Final Scenes

Coronation Street spoilers have teased that Kelly might regret her decision for the rest of her life as she refuses to see her dying mother Laura at the last moment.

Kelly Neelan’s (Millie Gibson) world turned upside down earlier this year when her wayward mom Laura (Kel Allen) returned to the street to inform her she was dying because of her stomach cancer. Just recently, the troubled teen hit another low when Laura surrendered to the authorities, claiming that she was the murderer of her husband Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).

It came after Laura heard the words from a regretful Gary Windass (Mikey North) that he killed Rick in a self-dense and knowing all too well how bad Rick a person was, her anger subsided. Instead of reporting him to the police, Laura thought of a better way to leave her child with a promising future, and that is to let Gary look after her as a better guardian which Rick failed to be, so she took the rap which tainted her relationship with Kelly.

‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – One Last Wish

Upcoming next in the ITV soap, Gary goes to check on Laura at the hospital and is shocked by how ill she has become. Knowing that she’s nearing her end, an emotional Laura confides with Gary that she wish to hug her child for the last time.

However, Kelly refuses to see her mother as she’s not come to terms with her lying and taking the blame for the crime she didn’t commit. Gary tries to persuade her but will she listen?

Later in the week, Kelly is firm about going to the hairdressing awards, despite knowing that her mom’s health has drastically deteriorated. She bags the prize for Best Trainee Stylist with Maria (Samia Longchambon) supporting her all the way.

While she hits the bottle in celebration, Gary destroys the cheerful mood with troubling news from the hospital that Laura has only hours left to live. Will this finally persuade Kelly? Or will she harden her heart only to regret her decision for the rest of her life if she learns the whole truth?

Actress Kel Allen has explained her character’s shocking decision on taking the blame for Rick’s death and it has to do with showing her motherly side for the last time.

Laura has been nothing but a troublemaker to Kelly and now that she’s about to cross the afterlife, she wanted to “leave a legacy for her daughter” with Gary who is more “decent” than Rick was.

“When she heard the conversation between Kelly and Simon where Kelly was talking about how happy she felt with Gary and Maria, she knows she can’t take that away from her. She hasn’t done it for Gary or his family she has done it for Kelly’s future,” she told Radio Times.

“It’s been three years in the running and people have been desperate for the truth to come out but I don’t think they were expecting that twist. Because of that twist, the death scenes when they come are even more emotionally charged,” she added.
