“Coronation Street” spoilers hint that Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) will face a tragedy next week as she suffers a miscarriage after contracting measles. The unfortunate incident will test the relationship between the new couple. Longchambon hinted that trouble is looming for the pair as they struggle to accept and cope with their recent loss.
It’s been revealed that Maria got the measles from Daniel Osbourne’s baby son Bertie. When Gary gets hold of that information, he’s bound to confront Daniel and pin the blame on him.
“Gary goes and finds Daniel and lashes out at him, but in Maria’s opinion, Daniel’s been through enough and that’s the last thing he needs. She just wants to grieve without it being a big drama,” Longchambon said.
Maria-Gary Relationship Will Be Put To A Test
The actress added that the tragedy will “put a strain” on their relationship. Her alter ego will once again have doubts and she’ll also tell Gary that he doesn’t have to be with her anymore now that their child is gone.
“If the reason why they’re living together, and he’s bought her the car, is all down to the fact they were having a baby together, then they’re not anymore and he can go if he wants,” she explained.
“She’s been through a lot, she feels anxious and this has brought it all to the surface. She did get pregnant quickly and she’s giving Gary that option now by saying if you don’t want all this, that’s fine,” she continued.
Gary Still Wants To Be With Maria
However, she said Gary is not about to give up. He still wants to be with Maria and believes that the incident will make them stronger.
Scenes next week will show that Ali Neeson (James Burrows) will be the one who will stay beside Maria as she gets rushed to the hospital. Will this ignite an old flame?
Longchambon says her character still has some feelings for Ali but she’s trying to hide it because she genuinely wants her relationship with Gary to work.

Vaccination Storyline
The actress also welcomed the vaccination storyline. Upcoming scenes will reveal that Maria wasn’t vaccinated when she was younger, which will, unfortunately, cause her to contract the disease and lose her child.
“It’s definitely an issue that needs talking about. It’s a problem that measles is on the rise again in this country and it shouldn’t be,” the actress said.
“There are vaccinations there to stop it, but people are choosing not to vaccinate their children. Obviously, it is a personal decision but it can have a snowball effect so it is really important to show that,” she explained.
