Coronation Street spoilers and updates tease that Qasim Akhtar is reprising his role as Zeedan Nazir after being away for 3 years from the soap. The actor has started to film his scenes and he’s expected to be back on canvas in mid-September.

The character is set to return Weatherfield just in time for his grandmother’s, Yasmeen Nazir (Shelly King), birthday. Zeedan has a lot of catching up to do when he comes back. He’ll be shocked to learn that their business is struggling financially after his sister Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) fell victim to a bank scam.

She starts to think that Zadeen’s newfound wealth is the reason why he was assaulted. Nobody knows what Zadeen is back in town and Alya will be concerned about his brother and where he got his cash.

Akhtar is excited to be back in Coronation Street especially now that his character is involved in a huge and explosive storyline, which he believes viewers will love.

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod described Akhtar as a fantastic actor. They are excited to bring Zeedan back because he has a lot of connections in the show. His return to Weatherfield paves the way for an exciting and interesting story for the Nazirs.

“Zeedan has made some mistakes while he’s been off-screen, but he’s determined to be a better man,” MacLeod teased.

However, he’ll have to deal with a lot of pitfalls because he can redeem himself. Not only that, Alya and Yasmeen will be involved in a lot of trouble, which he has brought with him from his old life to Weatherfield. His problems will end up “threatening what promises to be Yasmeen’s fairytale ending, after her ordeal at the hands of Geoff.”
