EastEnders Alum Reunite In BBC One And HBO Max’s Upcoming Series ‘The Girl Before’

EastEnders“EastEnders” stars, Jessica Plummer and Ben Hardy, who stepped out in Walford reunited in BBC’s newest psychological thriller series entitled “The Girl Before.”

The four-part series is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of JP Delaney, which talks about the life of Jane (Mbatha-Raw) who encounters weird house rules when she moves into an exquisite house designed by an uncanny architect (Oyelowo).

Jane feels different since the day she occupied the house, which leads to her discovery about her predecessor, Emma (Plummer). Having discovered their similar experiences, Jane is curious if she will go through the same circumstances just like the girl before.

“The Girl Before” is directed by Lisa Bruhlman while JP Delaney co-wrote the screenplay with Marissa Lestrade. Its impressive cast will give life to the show, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, and the former “EastEnders” actors Jessica Plummer and Ben Hardy, who will play Emma and Simon respectively as life partners in the series.

Variety teased the viewers about Ben Hardy’s character: “Simon can’t quite believe he’s got a girlfriend like Emma. He’ll do anything to keep her, but worries he’s not enough for her. Living in the minimalist haven of One Folgate Street, the creation of Edward Monkford heightens his insecurities even more.”

The leading star of the upcoming series “The Girl Before,” Gugu Mbatha-Raw talked about how her career started during her appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.”

Mbatha-Raw began her career in 2004 when she appeared in a few scenes in “Holby City.” She also played the main character in “Romeo and Juliet” last 2005 and landed a role in “Doctor Who” last 2007.

The 38-year-old actress gained recognition from a lot of viewers when she appeared in “Belle” and “Loki.”

She also mentioned how she loved the idea of working with her former “Loki” co-star, Tom Hiddleston, especially since they went to the same drama school years ago.

“We had so much fun on set and I was really trying not to laugh when Tom was attempting to get his magic powers to work. We did so many takes of that and he came up with all these different ways to play around with it and I had to keep a straight face the entire time – but it was hilarious,” Gugu stated.

With Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s upcoming series on BBC, she shared on her social media account the trailer of “The Girl Before.”

She tagged her co-stars and informed her followers when and where to watch the premiere. The post gained a lot of positive feedback in the comment section from fans who are looking forward to watching the series.
